Protection: Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 (schedule 5,6), and EC Directive Bern Convention.
General Information: Found in older buildings and occasonally trees summer, and underground sites in the winter. Their feeding habitats are woodlands, often near water.
Threats: Loss of woodland and hollow trees for roosting. Susceptible to pesticides. Disturbance at hibernation sites.
