Conservation Status: Frequent, found mainly in Southern Britain

Protection: Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 (schedule 5,6), and EC Directive Bern Convention.

General Information: Found in older buildings and occasonally trees summer, and trees and buildings in the winter. Their feeding habitats are open woodlands, parkland, pasture, farmland, tall hedgerows, gardens and suburban areas.

Threats: Loss of feeding habitat particularly pasture land that supports the larger insects such as chafers. High reliance on buildings where they are subject to conflict with householders, building work and remedial timber treatment.
