Community Greenspace and New Development
This project reviewed recent development projects in Hertfordshire where significant greenspace provision had been secured through the planning process. The key output from the project is a report, which includes a series of regional and national case studies. It also has a tool kit to assist local authorities with negotiations and agreements to secure and manage similar such benefits.
The research recognised that where local developments have lead to the creation of significant greenspace this has been handled on an individual basis. The project planned to draw on a breadth of experience and to share learning about the options for
- securing long term management
- establishing management bodies and interim arrangements
- financial arrangements, leases and agreements
- community involvement
- developing and implementing management plans
The resulting report is available in hard copy or digital pdf. The tool kit appendix provides a series of checklists on subjects ranging from Policy Development to Community Involvement.
