Small Project Grants
The Watling Chase Community Forest Project Development Group with support from Countryside Agency funding has established a Small Project Grant.
The Small Project Grants are awarded to projects that achieve the WCCF objectives and specifically that involve the community, improve the natural environment or promote enjoyment of the Community Forest. Works proposed will be of public benefit, will not be required by planning or any other conditions, and will be appropriate to the ecology, landscape or archaeology of the area. The awards are usually payable at 50% of agreed costs with grants being between £125 and £1000. In 2002/03 grants were paid to achieve the following:
- Creation of 540m of new hedge planting
- Restoration of 5 ponds
- Creation of 1 new pond
- Planting parkland oak trees and other species within hedges
- Provision of tools to a site based community group
- Reprinting a popular circular walks leaflet
