Countryside Management Service

We have a number of leafleted walks that are aimed at beginners or those walking specifically to improve their health. Find one in your area and give it a go.

The Countryside Management Service (CMS) has been working with communities in Hertfordshire for 30 years, helping them to care for and enjoy the environment.

Volunteer Samantha Cobb wins the Young Champion of The Countryside Award.

The competition was held by The Field magazine and Lycetts farm insurers. It was open to two age categories: 17-20 and 21-30. 18 year old Sam won the award for her category and went on to become overall winner!

Sam works with the CMS on a Mondays whilst studying a National Diploma in Countryside Management at Shuttleworth College. She has been involved with various projects such as veteran tree surveys and installing signage for local cycle routes. Sam hopes to work for the CMS in the future. 'I would like to thank the CMS for all the opportunities they have given me. Without their help I would not have won the award. I would like to work for them full time after my course.'

Sam is now enjoying her prizes of an ecorider all terrain vehicle, £1000 and a bronze sculpture of a Curlew by Ian Greensitt.
