Welcome to Walks & More
Our Walks & More programme, and its online companion What's On, lists a variety of outdoor activities in Hertfordshire. Each event is led by someone familiar with the area who can help you get the most out of your local countryside.
Each event has details of the places you will be visiting as well as how long you'll be out and how far the walk or ride is.
If you have any queries about individual events, contact the organisation detailed for that event. Alternatively, contact us.
Your local Library will have the latest printed copy of the Walks and More booklet, which also details our programme.
Getting there
Most entries in What's On have links to a map showing the starting point and all have a grid reference, which can help you find the meeting place on an Ordnance Survey map.
We try to begin events at easily found landmarks with car parks wherever possible. Space is sometimes limited, and if you have to park on the road please do not block gates and entrances or inconvenience local residents and other road users. Please lock your car and don't leave valuables inside. Please share transport with others coming on the walk, or use public transport if possible - details of public transport services in Hertfordshire can be found on hertsdirect.org.
About the walks
For suggestions about clothing and footwear see Walking Hints.
You may like to bring snacks and a drink on any of the events, we will tell you if you need to bring a picnic lunch or if there will be a stop at a pub or cafe en route.
If the event involves public transport we will let you know, so please remember to bring money for your fare!
